Here at Brad’s we believe great automotive maintenance starts with you! Over the years we’ve gathered some valuable experience and can offer you some advice on how to be the best car owner you can be.

Practice Routine Maintenance
We believe a vehicle is a big responsibility because it needs routine maintenance to keep running at it’s best. Below is our quick reference list of maintenance items and how often to service them –

    • Oil Change – Every 3,000 – 5,000 Miles
    • Rotate Tires – Every 7,500 Miles
    • Windshield Wipers – Every 6 Months
    • Brake Pads – Inspect a/ Every Trip to Auto Shop
    • Air Filter – Every 30,000 Miles
    • Broken Bulbs – As Soon As Possible

It’s important to keep track of your automotive maintenance as well. Save receipts and service statements to make sure you log major repairs and consistent maintenance.

Have an Emergency Safety Kit in Your Trunk
Car kits should include essential items such as jumper cables, flashlight, road maps, flares and a safety triangle. The small items are largely helpful if you’re ever in need while on the road, especially in isolated areas.

Keep Important Papers in the Glove Box
It’s important to obey the rules of the road for safe driving for all, part of that means keeping your important and necessary papers in your vehicle. Those are things like registration, inspection, and vehicle manual. Also, don’t forget to renew important papers when the time comes!

Wash it Inside and Out
We like cars looking and feeling their best both inside and out! It’s best to have your car washed and the interior cleaned once a month. Investing in some floor mats and a sunshade will reduce the maintenance and potentially increase the value of your vehicle over time. A clean car is also a safe car, it reduces the risk of unseen objects or people while driving.

Ensure Quality Technicians Work on Your Vehicle
We recommend staying away from an auto shop that does not clearly display their certifications. We have over 30 years of local experience here in Encinitas, our service techs are ASE certified and promise to always give you a full picture of your vehicle’s health.
