About Brad’s Engine Light Diagnosis
A check engine light is the most basic way for your car to communicate with you. Your check engine light is a warning that your vehicle’s computer found a malfunctioning component in your emission control system. At Brad’s, we diagnose, troubleshoot, & fix most check engine light issues right here in-house.
Reasons For Check Engine Light
There are hundreds of codes your car can send to turn your check engine light on; some issues may be as simple as a loose gas cap while other may indicate serious engine malfunctions.
Some common issues that trigger the check engine light to turn on are:
- The gas cap isn’t tight enough
- There is water in your engine
- Malfunctioning spark plugs
- Your car is expending a large amount of pollutants
Regardless of what has caused the trigger, it is important to bring your vehicle in for a diagnosis. Leaving your check engine light on for an extended amount of time without repair can cause long-term detrimental effects on your vehicle.
Check Engine Light Code Reader
In order to troubleshoot why your car is triggering the check engine light, we first attach a check engine light code reader to the vehicle and turn it on. This will generate a code that gives us a general consensus of what part of the vehicle to further diagnose. After we attain this information, our team of ASE-Certified technicians manually dives into the vehicle to troubleshoot what could be causing the check engine light to trigger. Through a series of trial and error sequences from our expert technicians, our team will develop recommendations for a solution.
No matter what code your car is sending, the crew at Brad’s is here to help!
